Our History & Mission

Learn about the Cotton Industry War Memorial Trust’s journey and our commitment to making a difference to the lives of former cotton textile workers..

From Humble Beginnings to a Legacy of Care: Our Journey Since the 50s

Established in the 1960s, our organization started as a convalescent home, providing care and support to those in need. Over the years, we have evolved and expanded, moving our convalescent services to two hotels in Blackpool. Today, we continue to serve around 40 individuals annually through our convalescent scheme, with the trust covering all accommodation expenses. In addition to our commitment to healthcare, we also contribute to the textile industry by funding research for health problems related to cotton and textiles.

We provide grants to a small number ofstudents pursuing careers in cotton textiles and subsidise the cost of health and safety courses for businesses via the Huddersfield Centre of Excellence. Furthermore, we proudly support veterans who have been injured in the North West of England through our grants programme. With a rich history and a dedication to making a difference, we are proud to be a part of our community.
